Romantic Meets Modern: A Styled Photoshoot at The Crane Bay Event Center

A Floral-Forward Vision Brought to Life at a Downtown Indianapolis Event Venue 

Recently, our team at Crystal Signature Events had the opportunity to transform The Crane Bay Event Center into a romantic, design-forward showcase of what’s possible within our versatile downtown Indianapolis venue. The goal of the photoshoot was simple: to inspire. We wanted to demonstrate how The Crane Bay’s modern industrial aesthetic can be softened with lush florals, layered textures, and thoughtful lighting, while still maintaining the clean, contemporary edge that defines the space.

With heavy florals in shades of pink and purple, velvet textures, dramatic lighting, and curated culinary displays, each area of The Crane Bay was styled to reflect a different type of event possibility. From weddings to galas, corporate receptions to social celebrations, the photoshoot brought every corner of the venue to life.

The High Bay: A Romantic Reception Transformation

The High Bay became the heart of the design story. Draped in romantic mauves, champagne satins, ocean velvets, and lagoon hues, the space featured a mix of 6-foot rounds and serpentine tables styled with layered linens and black rattan chairs. Mauve satin napkins were vertically folded around white pearl chargers, paired with gold-accented flatware and Muse glassware for a refined finish.

Above the tables, chandeliers were enhanced with floral installations, creating a dramatic focal point that felt both elevated and intimate. A gold shimmer drape framed a black sweetheart couch, offering a stunning backdrop moment that would be ideal for weddings, head tables, or VIP seating.

The 16’ x 16’ black dance floor anchored the room, demonstrating how The Crane Bay can seamlessly shift from formal dining to high-energy celebration. With built-in staging, LED lighted columns, and house ceiling lighting, the space can be transformed with ease - no excessive build-out required.

For corporate planners, this space can host large-scale meetings with stage presentations and branded screens. For weddings, it can serve as a ceremony space that flips seamlessly into a reception. For nonprofits, it provides room for sponsor activations, auctions, and dance floors all within one well-orchestrated footprint.

The Center Bay: Modern Drama with Flexible Layouts

In The Center Bay, we leaned into The Crane Bay’s signature modern-industrial aesthetic. Wash lights, patterned lighting, and uplights created depth against the venue’s architectural elements. The open layout illustrated how easily lounge groupings, cocktail tables, and formal seating can coexist in one cohesive environment.

With over 5,000 square feet of total space that can be divided using our in-house draping system, The Center Bay allows planners to customize flow and guest experience without compromising design. Everything, from the glass-front bar units to white leather couch seating, is portable, allowing complete flexibility.

The East Bay: An Intimate, Elevated Setting

The East Bay was styled to highlight a more intimate event configuration. Serpentine tables draped in champagne Dalila linen with cashmere velvet overlays showcased how texture can soften the venue’s clean lines. Soft pink and teal pillow accents layered into lounge seating added warmth while maintaining a modern edge. 

This section of The Crane Bay is ideal for silent auctions, breakout sessions, smaller social events, or VIP areas within larger celebrations. With built-in sound, LED lighting, and portable bar units, The East Bay can function independently or as part of a larger event design. 

Conference Room: Where Business Meets Design

The Crane Bay’s private Conference Room was styled to demonstrate its versatility beyond traditional board meetings. With statement lighting overhead, curated décor, and lounge accents, the room reflected how corporate events can feel polished yet welcoming.

This space is ideal for executive planning sessions, bridal suites, speaker prep rooms, or private vendor coordination areas during large-scale events. For clients hosting multi-day conferences or weddings, the Conference Room offers a quiet, functional retreat without leaving the venue.

The Patios: Indianapolis Downtown Views Make For A Romantic Glow

As the sun sets, both of The Crane Bay’s  patios came to life under café string lighting, firepits and skyline views. Styled with black tables, cocktail groupings, and casual games like cornhole, the outdoor space illustrated how The Crane Bay blends modern city energy with romantic ambiance.

With two private outdoor patios facing downtown Indianapolis, this area is ideal for cocktail hours, late-night lounges, or ceremony backdrops. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces add warmth during cooler months, extending usability across seasons.

For weddings, the patio offers a natural transition from ceremony to reception. For corporate events, it creates a relaxed networking space. For galas, it can serve as a VIP terrace or sponsor activation area.

Culinary Details: Styled to Inspire

No Crystal Signature Events photoshoot would be complete without food and beverage artistry. The photoshoot featured mini round cakes adorned with pink luster dust, layered tuna poke shooters displayed on a chandelier installation, and a dissected fall charcuterie presentation incorporating rosemary, artichokes, grissini, and pomegranate.

Seasonal beverages added visual intrigue, from Pumpkin Spiked Lattes served hot and chilled, to apple cider slushies, blush-toned cocktails in coupe glasses, champagne with garnish, sangria, and curated wine displays.

These culinary moments were styled intentionally to reflect The Crane Bay’s ability to host everything from elegant seated dinners to modern cocktail-style receptions.
